Dear VNT members,

I hope you have been enjoying your Summer so far.  As you may have noticed from our NTIO social media postings, we have increasingly become involved in promoting and supporting Dutch cultural events in Taiwan.

Allow me to share with you here some of the upcoming events:

Hsinchu City’s Children’s Film Festival (click here) features a Dutch section with 6 Dutch films. The closing film, “Fight Girl,” to be screened the coming Sunday (August 18), is also Dutch.

Speak dating: On Sep. 7, we will join other European countries to Speak Dating at the No. 1 Warehouse of the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei, where the general public will be given the chance to quickly learn some basic Dutch (click here).

Taichung Jazz Festival features this year Dutch trumpeter and composer Michael Simon on Oct. 15 with famous saxophonist Minyen Hsieh for their “Asian Connection” project. (Click here for information of the Taichung Jazz Festival and here for the project of Asian Connection.)

Diet Wiegman: At Chimei Museum, you will be able to see the works by shadow artist Diet Wiegman until 2 June 2020 at the special exhibition “Beyond Shadows” (click here).

Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is coming to Taiwan. They will have two concerts at the National Concert Hall in Taipei (Nov. 14, Nov. 15) and one at the National Taichung Theatre (Nov. 16). The brass ensemble of the orchestra is going to perform at Weiwuying in Kaohsiung on Nov. 26 after their tour in Japan.

The ticket sale for the RCO concerts in Taipei will be open to members of the National Concert Hall at noon on Aug. 25 and to the general public at noon on Sep. 1. (Click here for more information). The ticket sale for the concert in Taichung (click here) and Kaohsiung (click here) have already started. If you decide to go to the premier night in Taipei on Nov. 14, we also invite you to our post-concert reception in the VIP lounge on the 4th floor of the National Concert Hall with the conductor, Paavo Järvi.

I will keep you updated on the Europe Film Festival planned for November this year, but you could also follow our Facebook page (click here) for the latest updates of our events and activities.

We look forward seeing you soon at these or upcoming cultural events in Taiwan.
